Hi, I am Tashi Dhondup.
I am 14 years old and I was born in Amdo in the North East of Tibet. I have always wanted
to become a monk and at the age of 11 my wish came true. My parents are nomads and
don't have much earnings. They sent me to India despite the dangers at the Tibetan border.
With two other friends and a guide we started our journey by bus to Dham, a village
between Tibet and Nepal. There we stayed for two days and then continued to travel during
the night. We walked for 7 days and finally reached Nepal, where we were taken care of by
the Tibetan Reception Committee. First I stayed in Delhi, before finally coming to Drepung
Gomang in South India.
